Xavi Simons has become the first player to score in the Bundesliga this season, as RB Leipzig have lifted the title.
Simons, who joined RB Leipzig from Barcelona, scored his first goal for the club in the 88th minute of their match against Mainz on Sunday.
The German international made it 2-0 with a cool strike that was played into the box and deflected off the crossbar before bouncing back into the top flight of German football.
"I'm really happy," said Simons after the game. "It's my first goal for RB Leipzig and I want to thank everyone for the support."
Simons is not the only RB Leipzig player to make an impact this season,Serie A Stadium with star midfielder Robert Lewandowski also scoring his first goal for the club in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Lewandowski, who joined RB Leipzig from Borussia Dortmund earlier this month, made it 5-1 with a powerful finish after being played through by teammate Timo Werner.
"It was a fantastic feeling to be able to play for RB Leipzig and help them achieve their goals," said Lewandowski. "It's been a great season so far and we're all looking forward to what comes next."
The Bundesliga is one of the most competitive leagues in Europe, but there is still plenty of action to come as RB Leipzig look to defend their title and secure another historic triumph.
