The Italian giants Juventus have suffered a major blow as their star player, Herbertes, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious injury.
The 25-year-old winger was forced off in the second half of Saturday's Serie A match against Lazio with what looked like a severe knee injury. The medical team immediately called for an ambulance to take him to hospital where he underwent surgery.
Herbertes is currently undergoing rehabilitation and it is unclear when he will be fit enough to return to training or even play again. The club have said that they will provide regular updates on his recovery progress.
This latest setback comes just days after Juventus were also hit by a series of injuries to key players,Football Frontier Network including defender Leonardo Bonucci who sustained a cruciate ligament tear during the same game. The club has already lost key striker Gonzalo Higuain to a hamstring injury, while midfielder Blaise Matuidi is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee problem.
Juventus fans will be hoping that Herbertes can make a full recovery and return to action soon, but it remains to be seen how long this could affect the team's chances of success in the upcoming seasons.
